Solving a Rubik’s Cube may look intimidating at first—those scrambled colors can feel like a puzzle meant only for geniuses. But the truth is, anyone can solve a Rubik’s Cube with the right approach and a little practice. This 7-step beginner’s guide is designed to break the cube down into simple, logical stages that are easy to follow, even if you’re holding a cube for the very first time. No advanced math, no complex algorithms—just clear steps that will take you from a mixed-up cube to your very first solve, building confidence and problem-solving skills along the way.
Kindly read basic understanding of Rubiks cube blog before proceeding for these blog.
Step 1 – Create White cross sign at bottom layer
Keep the white center piece at bottom layer and Yellow center piece at top layer.
Bring all white edge piece at all sides of yellow center piece at top layer. This can be done by looking for white edge piece anywhere in the cube and bring it either to right or left side of top layer and then rotate it to top layer. Similarly do this for all white edge piece and your white cross with yellow center piece at top is created.
Match other color of white edge piece at top layer with the similar center piece color. This can be done by rotating the top layer towards the center piece color. Then rotate entire left or right layer of matched white edge piece with center piece to bottom side near to white center piece. Do this for all edge piece and center piece one by one and you will get White cross at bottom.
Tip – Do not move this bottom white cross aligned with center piece of middle layer


Step 2 – Solve the White bottom layer
Solve the corner piece of white bottom layer.
Let’s solve White-Red-Green corner. There is white center piece, Green center piece at right side and red center piece at left side. Look for White, Red and Green corner piece and bring it at top layer and now rotate the top layer and bring the White-red-Green corner piece between red and green center piece (Bring the white-red-green corner piece at right side of top layer).
Apply the below algorithm until the corner piece matches all center piece color.
R U R’ U’ (Right up, U left, Right Down, U right)
One corner piece is solved. Similarly, solve all the rest 3 corner pieces at bottom layer in this way.
Tip – Do not move this bottom white cross aligned with center piece of middle layer

Step 3 – Solve the middle layer
Solving the edge piece.
Let’s solve edge piece of middle layer by applying 2 algorithms.
Look for edge piece at top layer (Example - Red-Green edge piece).
Scenario 1 - If the Red of Red-Green edge piece is at side and green is at top then these edge piece will form right edge piece. For this, right algorithm will be applied.
For scenario 1 case, rotate the top layer to left side to apply right algorithm (opposite to green center piece) and apply the algorithm below.
R U R’ U’ (Right up, U left, Right Down, U right)
Move the entire cube to right side and apply the algorithm below.
L U’ L’ U (Left up, U right, Left down, U left)
Edge piece is matching with center piece.

Or
Scenario 2 - If the Green of Red-Green edge piece is at side and red is at top then these edge piece will form left edge piece. For this, left algorithm will be applied.
For scenario 2 case, rotate the top layer to right side to apply left algorithm (opposite to red center piece) and apply the algorithm below.
L U’ L’ U (Left up, U right, Left down, U left)
Move the entire cube to left side and apply the algorithm below.
R U R’ U’ (Right up, U left, Right Down, U right)
Edge piece is matching with center piece.
Repeat either Scenario 1 or scenario 2 to solve all edge piece so, you will have middle layer solve.
Step 4 – Yellow cross at top layer
There will be either single yellow center at top (which is called dot) Or
Inverted L yellow at top Or
Minus horizontal yellow line at top
Apply below algorithm for any above scenario
F R U R’ U’ F’ (Front right, Right up, U left, Right Down, U right, Front left)
Repeat the above algorithm along with the tips below
Tip 1 – if the L yellow is formed then make it inverted L yellow
Tip 2 – Ensure that you apply algorithm by keeping the Minus horizontal yellow line


Step 5 – Matching the edge piece of top layer with center piece of middle layer
Match at least 2 color edge pieces of top layer with center piece of middle layer by rotating the top layer.
Either you will have adjacent matching edge piece and center piece or you have opposite matching edge piece and center piece.
Case 1 – Place the opposite matching edge piece and center piece in such a way that you are having the opposite face at your side and then apply below algorithm and you will get adjacent matching edge piece and center piece.
Case 2 - Place the adjacent matching edge piece and center piece in such a way that one face is at backside and one face is at left side and then apply below algorithm.
R U2 R’ U’ R U (Right up, U left, U left, Right down, U right, Right Up)
You will have center piece matching the edge pieces.

Step 6 – Aligning the corner pieces of top layer
Look for at least one corner piece which has all center piece color (Ex. – Yellow- Green-Orange).
Note – There may be case where no corner piece has the center piece color. In such cases, simply apply the algorithm below
Place these corner piece on the right side of your facing side and then apply the algorithm below.
U R U’ L U’ R’ U L’ (Up Left, Right Up, Up right, Left up, Up left, Right down, Up left, Left down)
Now, check if all the corner pieces match with corresponding center piece color.
If not, then apply above algorithm until all corner piece are matching with the corresponding center piece.
Tip – Before applying the algorithm always place the matched corner piece with corresponding center piece at right side of your facing side.

Step 7 – Solving the corner piece
Turn the whole cube upside where solved white bottom layer is up and unsolved yellow top layer is down without moving any layer. Just turn it downside up.
Do not move any layer or piece, just apply below algorithm and check after each algorithm application whether all corner piece color matches with all center piece color.
If it doesn’t match, then apply below algorithm until it matches.
After corner piece color matches with all center piece color, then just move the bottom layer to right side and check whether all corner piece color matches with all center piece color. If yes then move the bottom layer to right side or no, then apply the algorithm below.
Repeat this process until all corner pieces are at its position and Bingo! YOU HAVE SOLVE THE CUBE.
